Guillermo del Toro's Animated Film "The Book Of Life" Trailer Looks Great !

A new animated film will be released this October and it's called "The Book of Life". It's produced by Guillermo Del Toro and directed by Jorge R. Guttierez and its first trailer looks  wonderful!

It stars the voices of Diego Luna, Channing Tatum, Zoë Saldana, Ice Cube, Ron Perlman, Christina Applegate, Kate del Castillo, Cheech Marin, Placido Domingo, Hector Elizondo, Ana de la Reguera, Eugenio Derbez, Gabriel Iglesias, Ricardo "El Mandril" Sanchez, and Danny Trejo and here is the synopsis:

"The Book of Life is the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favorites, The Book of Life encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future."

But the synopsis don't really pay tribute to what looks like an epic animated film between the world of the living and the one of the dead. With its Tim Burtonesque style it will probably remind you Burton universe but this would happen anyway with that kind of storyline.

I like a lot the colors palette of each scene as well as the look of each character. The only thing i don't like too much are the big eyes of the female character, but i have a real good feeling with this new animated film and if the storyline is strong and the characters don't behave too hysterically i even think that The Book of Life - with no Pixar film to be released this year - could be a serious contender to the 2015 Best Animated Film Award... although Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon sequel is a serious one too.

That said, talking about Pixar, it reminds me that Pixar has an animated project so far untitled "El Dia de los Muertos" inspired by the famous Mexican festival and i'm curious to see if The Book of Life will change anything for the Pixar project...

Have a look below at the trailer and the screen captures i did for you, and let me know what you think but esthetically speaking the film looks great!
