How Litlle by Little Disneyland Innoventions Become a Marvel Super Heroes Pavilion

Remember this rumor a few years ago saying that Disneyland's Innoventions will be shut down and be replaced by a Marvel attraction? Well, Innoventions is still there and we don't have a ride instead of it but little by little the whole pavilion is indeed becoming a Marvel one. And now, after "Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries" and "Thor: Treasures of Asgard" that DL guests can always experience it's Captain America who will come at Innoventions on March 7 in "Captain America: The Living Legend and Symbol of Courage"!

Of course, all this is done to promote the new "Captain America, The Winter Soldier", but this you already knew it, didn't you?

Johnny Depp is Back April 18 in a Sci-Fi Thriller "Transcendence"

Johnny Depp is back this April in a new movie and for once it's a sci-fi thriller movie called "Transcendence"! the movie also stars Morgan freeman and Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy and cole Hauser and is also produced by Christopher Nolan!
Here is the synopsis: "Dr. Will Caster is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn and friend Max, both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can... but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will's thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power—to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him".
Here is the brand new trailer, the movie will be released in theaters April 18.

Industrial Light & Magic Will Open a New London Facility for Star Wars 7 and Avengers 2

You all know that Star Wars Episode 7 will be filmed at London Pinewood Studios. Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, ILM - Industrial Light and Magic, the special effects division created by Georges Lucas - will open a new SFX facility in London specially for Star Wars 7 and Avengers 2, but not only :

With Star Wars: Episode VII casting underway and production expected to begin in the spring in the U.K., Industrial Light & Magic -- the VFX division of Lucasfilm, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company -- is getting ready to launch a new feature visual effects facility in central London. The target is to bring the London operation to about 200 employees initially and Marvel's   Avengers: Age of Ultron will be ILM London’s first project.

ILM is set to sign a lease for space just outside of Soho -- a neighborhood already populated with numerous VFX houses -- and north of Tottenham Court Road, ILM president and general manager Lynwen Brennan told The Hollywood Reporter. An extensive remodel of the space is planned, and the target to move-in is late March or early April. “It will be a full service studio,” she said. “We’ll have an art department, previsualization, and an entire end-to-end visual effects and computer graphics pipeline.”
She also revealed that since production of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars is planned at London’s Pinewood Studios, “we’ll certainly have some art department and previs there, but we’re not currently planning on having a large ILM presence at Pinewood. We did consider splitting the facility in two, but we are now focusing on our London facility and having an as-needed facility at Pinewood to be near the production.”
ILM’s Roger Guyett (who earned his third Oscar nomination this year for Star Trek Into Darkness) will be the VFX supervisor on Star Wars Episode VII. The plan is for the ILM facilities to handle all of the work for the film, not just in the U.K., but also in ILM’s San Francisco headquarters, and Singapore and Vancouver locations, as well as at its strategic partner, Base FX in Beijing. The London facility will have a pipeline allowing it to share work with the other ILM offices.
The U.K. base is part of an overall global expansion plan -- and it is not opening just to accomodate Star Wars. “ILM will be working on not only Lucasfilm projects, Disney projects and Marvel projects but [productions] for other studios as well,“
You can read the full THR article HERE.

Talking about Star Wars, here is a fun Darth Vader "Look Back" Facebook video - a fake one, of course, but really fun.

The Making of WDS Ratatouille Attraction , by WDI Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald

If you came this morning on D&M you may have follow our LIVE report of DLP Annual Stockolder Meeting but we kept the best for this exclusive article thanks to a great video filmed at the meeting by Max Fan, D&M contributor and screen captures of it that you will see below.

WDI Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald was there to do a great presentation on the making of the highly awaited Ratatouille ride which will open at the WDS probably in the last 10 days of June with an official grand opening apparently scheduled for July 14, the national day in France.

Tom Fitzgerald was introduced to the audience by DLP CEO Philippe Gas...

...who welcomed Tom on the Cinémagique stage...

After an introduction in french Tom told the audience that he will continue in english...

Then Tom Fitzgerald started his presentation of how DLPI Imagineers built the ride.

Tom explained that it started with talks with Pixar animators who worked on the animated feature, including director Brad Bird, to make sure they will create a unique story for the attraction which will pay tribute to the film...

...and from there, the next thing they did was to build a scale model of the attraction  ( the model shown below is just a part of the whole ride model ).

They actually built the model with ride vehicles so they could actually ride through and see the point of view that guests will have during the ride.

Once finished, they started to build the full scale - giant size show elements. I remind you that guests will be "reduced" at the size of a rat during the ride...

They did 2000 over scale leaves for Remi's restaurant which were all hand painted!

...and including set tables also over scaled.

The animated movies that you will see in the ride were created by their colleagues at Pixar, in 3D, in the larger scale they've ever created...

Here is a WDI rendering showing the ride vehicle passing near a giant show element...

Tom also talked about the unique ride system which will be used to move the "Ratmobiles", as Imagineers call the ride vehicles in which six passengers will be allowed to travel.

Meanwhile, the architectural team was busy to create the exterior of the ride, the great decor that you all know.

They created too elaborate color boards that allowed Imagineers to paint in colors any details that you will see...

Tom also talked about "Chez Rémi" and how they're bringing to life Rémi's restaurant where  guests will be able to have a delicious meal...

...in a super over scale fantasy environment!

And it was the end of Tom Fitzgerald presentation. Right after, a great ballet with cook dancers happened in the theatre...

...soon joined by Mickey, Minnie and Rémi for a grand finale!

And now, here is the full video of Tom Fitzgerald presentation that i'm sure you will all enjoy a lot!

But Disney has a brand which will be very helpful to get out of the crisis... 510M€ were invested for refurbishment in 2011 with half of the hotels rooms being now renovated and satisfactory rate which has increased of 28 points...

That said, Gas also talks about the loss of visitors with 14.9M visitors in 2013. Expenses per visitor increase by 4% in the park and 6% in the hotels which counterbalance the loss of visitors...

Virginie Calmels president of the supervision committee talks again about the difficult economy but also about the big reactivity of DLP helping to overcome this crisis...

Mrs Calmels also reminded the support of the Walt Disney Company and their help for the debt refinancing...
